Is it really October already! September was a huge month for me. This month I launched my blog website and I couldn’t be happier! I have been such a busy bee with promoting my site and writing blog posts for you all to read. Also this month, Khalessi had surgery and that was an emotional time for me, but my little wolf is strong and doing great now! Being so busy, I had to force myself to continue to take some time out for me and enjoy life and of course the beginning of Fall! I’d love to share some of my favorites of the month with you, so keep reading on!
Sephora Collection Bamboo Charcoal Blotting Papers: Being oily and living in Florida is so annoying especially when you are trying to stay looking fresh for at least a few hours. Even though I have found a great powder, I still need to blot here and there. While waiting in the checkout lane at Sephora, I came across these blotting papers and figured for $8 I couldn’t go wrong. These papers are great for taking off the oil and leaving the makeup! They are a must have for those who live in a warm and humid climate!
RCMA Makeup No Color Powder: As I have said, I have really oily skin and living in Florida doesn’t help things. I also set my foundation with powder before I head out, but always find that I’m blotting every few hours. I came across RCMA Makeup No Color Powder after numerous recommendations from Beauty Gurus on YouTube and Blogs. This powder is just what I need to keep me matte for more than just a few hours! I still have to blot here and there but not nearly as much as before. The only issue I have is the packaging. It’s loose powder that I have to shake out onto my vanity and it just gets everywhere sometimes. But hey, if it keeps me matte and not looking like I bathed in grease, then a little cleanup is not a big deal. What setting powders do you use to stay matte all day?
Acrylic Nails: “Hi, my name is Nicky and I am a consistent nail picker”. That’s right! I don’t know if it is a nervous thing or what, but I always pick at my nails and it just makes my hands look awful. That’s why I decided to start getting acrylic nails again. I found a great place right here in Kissimmee, FL called Meraki Beauty Studio. These ladies are amazing! From hand drawn art to Swarovski crystal nail art, their talent and creativity is top notch. Even YouTube star PatrickStarrr seeks them out when he’s in Orlando! I have had the pleasure of having my nails done with Emily, Ileana and the owner Mindy Hardy. Let me just say, my nails have never looked better! I’ll be doing a blog post featuring the ladies of Meraki soon, so make sure to subscribe so you don’t miss it!
Shiseido Facial Cotton: I first learned about these little cotton blessings from Jen Ross of Pretty Neat Living. I thought, what could be so special about cotton squares? This is one of those moments where you need to feel it to see the difference. I have been using cotton rounds from Target for years. They always managed to do the job but I always had this weird irritation to them soon after. After trying out these Shiseido Squares, I’m never going back to ordinary rounds! They are super soft and don’t make your hand drenched when pouring on some makeup remover. They don’t tug at my eyelids or leave my skin feeling irritated. Sure $9.50 is a lot for some cotton squares, but trust me your face, especially when removing eye makeup, will thank you!
Time Los Angeles Lipstick Backpack: I love a great quality large bag because I can carry everything I could possible need inside. Lately, I have been wanting to carry less and just pick up and go. I purchased this backpack because carrying a backpack is so much easier than carrying something on the crook of my arm. I didn’t think this backpack would carry much of anything, because I was used to the mini backpacks from the 90’s. I’m glad I was wrong! This bag carries my essentials with room to grow, if I need it. It is a great accessory piece to any out and such a breeze to carry around when doing errands. Handling Khaleesi in and out of the car or if I am brining her into a store, I like to have my hands free for her needs and this backpack allows me to do just that. It is currently sold out on their site, but follow them on Instagram to learn when they will restock again!
Destiny: Rise of Iron (Video Game): So with launching a blog, Khaleesi’s surgery and life in general, finding time to relax and unwind has been quite difficult. I casually played Destiny since launch and never really got into it, mostly because of all the random disconnects from weasel to fly. If you play the game, you know of the Noah’s Arc list of disconnect codes! So when the Rise of Iron launched on September 20, I was hesitant to try it out. I’m so glad I did! Besides being reunited with the highly anticipated Gjallarhorn, Rise of Iron is jammed pack with new content! My favorite is the new Record Book. I love working towards something and this book gives me just that. I love the look of the Plaguelands as well, while it is still Earth, it is a very different look and feel. I haven’t tried the new Raid yet, but I have done the new strikes and I can see a rise in difficulty, which makes the game enjoyable for me again. If you downloaded the DLC, what were your hit and misses?
Once Upon A Time (TV Show): I don’t really have the luxury to sit and watch shows when they air, so I usually DVR them or catch them on Hulu. Once Upon A Time, is my guilty pleasure! I get my all of my beloved fairytales in one place in a very mature and different way! I have always loved the way this show puts their spin on the fairytales we have all grown to know and love. I’m intrigued by this season, because it seems very different than all the others. Maybe it’s the new villain Mr. Hyde, or the abundance of untold stories that have landed in the middle of Storybrooke. Either way, I am excited for this season and see the stories of each of the characters unfold. My only qualm is I wish they kept the actor who played Jafar (Naveen Andrews also seen in Lost) in Once Upon A Time in Wonderland instead of getting a new face, which for all you Charmed fans the new Jafar is none other than our favorite baddie, Oded Fehr aka Zankou.
Jaxlee’s Bucket: Since I started blogging, I have enjoyed finding and reading different blogs, not just beauty blogs but lifestyle blogs, DIY blogs, pet blogs just to name a few. I came across a gem of a blog that gives me everything in one place! Jaxlee’s Bucket is a blog filled with great DIY’s and fashion tips! Kali, the author and creator of the blog, infuses her tips in creating amazing “Go To” looks without breaking the bank. Kali gives you a look inside her day-to-day life with her family and how a mother of two toddlers can still do it all! She has recently revamped her site and I love the look of it! If you are in the need for DIY inspiration, I would definitely check her blog out, I love her Mickey Oreo pops!
So there you have it! I can’t believe September came and went so quickly! Stay tuned for Khaleesi’s favorites. Make sure to subscribe so you don’t miss it! What were some of your favorites for September? Leave it in the comments below!
